Subject: RE: [TeaneckShuls] Banking on line

Just wanted to thank everyone for the wonderful information regarding online banking. Here is the general consensus (ALL NAMES have been removed from the statements):

-----------------------------
Citibank
Overwhelmingly good service

Comments:
Citibank is great for online banking.

We've been using Citibank online for years and have always been satisfied with ease of use and problem resolution

-----------------------------
Fleet
Also good service

Comments:
Fleet has excellent on line banking. You can pay bills, transfer money, see balances and download to MS Money or Quciken. The Branch on Cedar Lane and Palisades is the best.

Fleet has pretty good online banking services.

Fleet has great online banking but they require a balance or CD's for it to be free

For free online banking, you may need a linking of CD's worth 10 or 20k

I use Fleet homelink and I've been very pleased.

Chase
Good Service

Comments:
I use Chase and am very happy with their online service.

Chase has pretty good online services.

Netbank.com

Comments:
I use netbank which is an online only bank (www.netbank.com) which works great for me since I don't use it for alot of deposits just direct deposits. Free on-line banking and great customer service too.

We've had fairly pleasant experiences with Netbank.com Problem is they have no branches so you must mail all deposits. On the flip side they do pay (minimal) interest on checking accounts but of course check all details on your own. One way we did get tripped --- we registered for the free online bill pay and then did not use it - after three months they started chraging us for registering and not using. They eventually removed most of the monthly charges but do set up a recurring payment on the bill pay to avoid this possibility.

State Farm

Comments:

State Farm Bank (www.statefarm.com) is online/mail only, and rebates up to $1.50 for ATM use at other banks. It also pays much better interest on money market than what I found locally.

I'm happy so far.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a bank that has good on-line banking and in general tries to look out for their depositors? (No I haven't been drinking, but thanks for asking)

Regarding Netbank: Read their fee schedule carefully. Most services are free, but watch out for excess use charges on the money market account - over 3 checks per month or 6 total withdrawals will cost $10 each! Also they stretch funds availability laws as far as they can - e.g. electronic transfers from an outside account take 4 business days to clear.
